What is an Energy Performance Certificate?

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rates your building’s energy efficiency on a scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).

In 2020, The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy has, under section 19(1)(b) of the National Energy Act, 1998 (Act no. 34 of 2008), set out regulations that an EPC is required to be publicly displayed at the entrance of all buildings that fall into the criteria for compliance.

An EPC is valid for five years.
